Surly 1st Annual Golf Tournament – Leave Your Balls @ Home

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

That’s right. Surly is putting together a golf tournament Sunday, August 5th. Leave your golf shirts, clubs and balls at home, this one is a disc golf tourney. We will have sign-up on the web-site in a few days. The plan is to have to waves of a shotgun start. What’s that mean? Everybody that signs up will head out to a designated hole and start playing at the same time. We are planning on start times of 9:00 and 1:00. Cost is going to be $25. That includes the game of golf, a Surly disc golf and dinner. We are working on putting together some fun hole prizes. Like longest drive gets a case of beer, stuff like that.

Tell your friends and plan on signing up, we need to fill this event up so we can repeat it next year.

One more thing, this event is open to everyone. This is not a competitive tourney, the idea is to have a little fun. See you throwing!

Darkness – June 19th

Friday, June 15th, 2007

Surly will be celebrating its Top American Brewery honor by pouring our last keg of Darkness on Tuesday June 19th at Mackenzies Pub, downtown Minneapolis. The beer will start flowing around 8:00. Thanks to all that have made this a fun year and 1/2.

The Return of Darkness

Thursday, June 14th, 2007

Great news, BeerAdvocate magazine chose us the #1 American Brewery. We thought we would thank Surly Nation by pouring our last keg of Darkness at Mackenzies, Tuesday June 19th. We will post the date as soon as we can figure out the details of Todd’s trip to Germany to play at the Bang-Your-Head Festival and Omar’s trip to Oklahoma to hang out with his mother-in-law. Gobble Gobble.

Also, mark your calendars; Surly’s 1st annual golf tournament is August 5th. It will cost $25 bucks or something like that. You get to play a round of disc golf at Hyland Hills, you get some dinner, you get a Surly disc golf disc, you get to drink some cheap beer.

You like me, you really like me

Imagine our surprise when we opened this month’s issue of Beeradvocate magazine to find that we are the number one rated brewery in America (OK, maybe we already new, a few people called). But still, number one? We’re not really sure what the hell that means. A few thoughts from the staff on the matter:

It’s about damn time! 16 months it took people to figure out were the best!
Fucking awesome.
Yeah! Get ready for the Surly backlash.
There goes the neighborhood, and my summer vacation.
Thanks guys, we couldn’t have done it with out you. Which makes YOU responsible for all the extra hours I’m gonna have to work. Jerks.
Great, we’ll keep making great beer.

Ski’s on the cover!

Thanks again.
