Cantastic and the Return of CynicAle

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

Surly got a nice note in the June issue of Gourmet magazine;
“But the biggest surprise came in the biggest can: The 16-ounce Surly Bender was dark and malty, but with a nice balancing hoppiness. It’s exactly what you would not expect to find in a can in you didn’t know how excellent the vessel is.”

Since Gourmet thinks cans are so great, we decided to can another beer. CynicAle will soon be appearing in cans at your favorite Surly liquor store. CynicAle is being served right now, at Papas Pizza in north Minneapolis.

The CynicAle launch in bars will happen next Tuesday at Grumpy’s – NE Minneapolis. Rumor is that some cask Bitter Brewer might be there too!

Furious Ice Cream!

Thursday, May 10th, 2007

Just in time for the hot weather, Surly beer now available in ice cream form. Pumphouse Creamery, located at 4754 Chicago Ave S, is making ice cream with Furious beer. Barb, owner of Pumphouse, says she made ice cream with both bender and furious and customers really loved the furious ice cream. She says that the hops really come out in the ice cream. Yum!

Bitter Brewer. You Named It! Sort of.

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

Thanks to everyone that voted. The winning name ended up being Hopping Mad, but we found out after the voting started that another brewery was using that name. So…. we went with the second highest vote-getter, Bitter Brewer. Trust me, if you worked with Todd, you would vote for Bitter Brewer.
The new beer kicks off tonight, Wednesday, at the Uptown Old Chicago. We will be around from 7:00 on, hanging out and talking beer.
