OK suburbanites, get ready to drink! This Wednesday, all the Old Chicago’s are GETTING SURLY. We will be on tap for the Old Chicago hometown mini-tours, so show up, drink, and help keep our beer on tap. In addition, Surly is now getting poured at The Craftsman, Punch Pizza – Uptown, Shelly’s Restaurant, and Shaker’s Restaurant.
Check out the link below for our interview with Channel 12 News.
We will be pouring beer at the Gitchee Gumee Brewfest in Superior, Wisconsin this Saturday. Wear your Surly swag proud, or if you don’t have any, we’re bringing plenty to hock.
Video of the Channel 12 news story on Surly is now online.
Todd and Omar have been busy brewing and delivering beer around the cities. Members of Surly Nation have been proselytizing the Cult of Surly! Seems like whenever we go to a new place, the staff has been looking forward to trying out the Surly. We have added a number of new places to Get Surly, check out the SURLY BARS page to find out the latest.
We got some nice press from Jeremy Iggers, the Star Tribune : food critic. Check out this quote on a review of our favorite St. Paul bar, The Happy Gnome. As a self-confessed hophead, I was especially impressed by the Surly Furious, from the newly opened Surly Brewing Co. in Brooklyn Center. It’s an extremely hoppy ale balanced by plenty of malty body.
Glad he liked it! The bar building has begun, check out the photo page to take a look. Tours hopefully in April. More news coming soon!
What a great first month for Surly! Things could not have started off any better. The second month is continung to be exciting – keep checking our link to Surly Bars, because it just keeps growing. In addition to the great press from the StarTrib, we just had a write-up in this month’s issue of the The Rake Magazine. Pick up one today or read their article online. (Max’s name was changed to Sam to protect the innocent).
In addition, Channel 12 news (cable news channel of the northwest suburbs) came out today to do a story on the brewery. The episode will air March 2nd at 4:00pm, so come join us at Champps Bar in Maple Grove where we will be watching the piece and tapping a new keg. This keg will also mark the kick-off of our partnering with Dahlheimer Distribution to cover the North West suburbs – because, damn it, people in the ‘burbs deserve good beer, too! Stop by for some drink specials and free swag.
